Spring Into Weight Loss in Crosby
Over the past 26 years, I have had the privilege of helping thousands of patients return to health and achieve their weight loss goals in Crosby. A common critical mistake I see when patients come in is overlooking major roadblocks to getting there. One such roadblock is additives and chemicals we are exposed to regularly.
It’s an amazing thing to go into our grocery stores and see abundance and vast array of foods available to us. The choices seem endless. There are, however, some things you’ll want to avoid when thinking about trimming up.
Tips to Losing Weight in Crosby MN
A top priority should be to avoid anything with MSG (monosodium glutamate). This can seem obvious and straight forward but there is something you should know: FDA requires that foods containing added MSG list it in the ingredient panel on the packaging as monosodium glutamate. However, MSG can be labeled as hydrolyzed vegetable protein, autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed yeast, yeast extract, soy extracts, and protein isolate, as well as in tomatoes and cheeses. While FDA requires that these products be listed on the ingredient panel, the agency does not require the label to also specify that they naturally contain MSG.
Avoid aspartame at all costs (whether you’re looking to lose weight or not!) It has several names now such as NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, and Equal-Measure. Beyond it’s many side affects such as muscle spasms, migraines, and depression, aspartame can cause weight gain! Weight gain!! It makes sense that individuals are frustrated when trying to lose weight and utilizing this.
There are many other chemicals we can be exposed to that affect our body. Bisphenol A (BPA) found lining the cans of our food and on the receipts we get at the store can contribute to obesity. Phthalates (the fragrance from plastics) can disrupt the hormones in our body and make weight loss difficult. The list goes on.
Skip the sugar, please.
Skipping the sugar is easier said than done. However, it may be helpful to understand the reasons behind such advice. Sugar, particularly refined sugar, will cause the body to release high levels of insulin. Now, the insulin is necessary for our bodies to process the sugar. This is where the problem occurs: When inulin is present like this, all fat burning stops! In fact, insulin is a fat storing substance. Fat burning can actually be shut down for up to 24 hours. So, you can be eating just the right foods all day but have the benefits short-circuited by sugar. Eating the sugar, then, can cause… well… a not so sweet reaction.
Get Up And Exercise
Exercising can look different for everyone. For one person, it may require strenuous exercise such as weight-lifting. For another, it may mean a half-hour cardiovascular workout. Others who are less mobile due to a physical limitation may need to seek out something like a vibe platform. Here the person can sit or stand and the equipment vibrates, bringing the user’s cardiovascular system up to a rate as if they were exercising.
Whichever method is used, it’s important to keep the rate up for 30 minutes. Fat burning enzyme in the body kick in after 12 minutes so any time after that is fat loss payday. An additional benefit is that growth hormone will begin to rise after 24 hours increasing fat burning.
Sleep It Off
Don’t underestimate the value of a good night’s sleep. This can vary in length for each person but what’s important her is the depth of sleep. The body should enter a deep sleep sometimes called REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. This is a recovery state for the body. Something else happens as well. Remember the fat burning growth hormone you earned while exercising? This is where that’s activated. So you literally will burn the fat off in your sleep.
Look on the internet or find a professional trained in natural approaches to weight loss to help you solve this piece of the puzzle.
